🔗 Good morning from Howard Hughes a B.B.C.
🔗 Radio back show Waking up to another day
🔗 and of course as the year proceeds we know that a day's Dawn is getting later
🔗 and later son driving along today thinking it's rather dark.
🔗 Did I get the timing wrong this morning when I set the alarm a mile an hour early.
🔗 But now it's just the march of time really.
🔗 And the fact is
🔗 that the sun is going to be rapidly making its way to the southern hemisphere
🔗 winter.
🔗 If you're listening there now and I know we do have listeners around the world
🔗 that winter will become summer and vice versa.
🔗 But it's all very slow process and we got some good weather in the way.
🔗 Hope you had a good week. Maybe you spent some of it.
🔗 Watching the Olympics maybe you had other priorities in your life

🔗 He is something I'll think of something of this morning. Absolutely nothing.
🔗 The world is on holiday.
🔗 Now but not as a tribute to the grindstone.
🔗 We're doing our duty it is simply read
🔗 to
🔗 you
🔗 we.
🔗 We
🔗 were each
🔗 on each
🔗 on each
🔗 on eating
🔗 on
🔗 each.
🔗 We
🔗 we
🔗 each
🔗 on on
🔗 each on
🔗 each on
🔗 the
🔗 primal religious topic.
🔗 Come on
🔗 that chip company that.
🔗 Maybe is listening to my show simply read MAYCOCK over there glass half empty
🔗 person by the sounds of it holding back the years for B.B.C.
🔗 Radio production with Howard Hughes.
🔗 I've got the only reason I keep saying my name is
🔗 that I have to remind myself of that in the papers have just come in
🔗 and these kindly brought them are we going through them in a little while
🔗 but not just yet.
🔗 Daily Express this morning has a photograph of our prime minister has made me have
🔗 M.P. To resign May on a roll of days
🔗 and wearing what used to be called in the fifty's hiking gear with one of those
🔗 sticks
🔗 that you use to walk up the hills because that's where she's Olive ing in the hills
🔗 but she doesn't look at paint on this picture like um you know our Kayla from the
🔗 Scout Group of it from the Girl Guides kind of thing.
🔗 It's one of those so I don't think she expected to be photographed
🔗 or maybe it was one of those photographs where photographers were invited
🔗 and then told. OK.
🔗 Get your pictures now and
🔗 and then no more pictures please because it's our holiday things in the prime
🔗 minister has to be allowed a holiday
🔗 and has to be allowed a bit of time because there's so much to do these days.
🔗 Any free time I guess when you're doing that job.
🔗 He's pretty precious now six fourteen coming up on sixteen from B.B.C.
🔗 Radio Barbara. He was a real admiral in the Royal Navy and received an O.B.E.
🔗 For his services to disaster relief
🔗 but following his departure from the armed forces.
🔗 Richard Lehman chose a totally different fork in the road he is now the chief
🔗 executive of the new breed based guide dogs and so B.B.C.
🔗 Radio boxes and I'm in this week.
🔗 Why he went from warships to whether it's it's probably the most hot
🔗 and it's the most satisfying job ever. Every day.
🔗 People are going blind.
🔗 There's around two million people at the moment likely to be maybe four million by
🔗 twenty five. Unless there's some significant medical advances.
🔗 So that the challenge is growing. We we literally.
🔗 The guys who work for me literally transform people's lives with the guide dog.
🔗 But over the last four
🔗 or five years we've also developed children's services so we help young young
🔗 children to walk with a white cane it will bring a lump to your throat
🔗 and if you can get to see the work they do
🔗 and at the other end of the spectrum we've got a service called it's called My
🔗 guide it's sighted guide so a sighted person goes out with.
🔗 With a blind person maybe for them a dog really isn't the right time to live with
🔗 some people it is. Yeah
🔗 and they want to go out with somebody in terms of somebody so we we've developed
🔗 these these two new services we've been over the last five years we've actually
🔗 doubled the number of people we support and we.
🔗 We rely entirely upon donations to do this work.
🔗 So we have to be careful about where we put the money the guide dog services
🔗 growing we've got nearly five thousand guys organised at the moment.
🔗 Wow that and that's that's going up.
🔗 We are we're the largest guide dogs organization on the planet.
🔗 So America has a number of smaller guys over yes ations
🔗 but we're really one big one. We're the biggest one with the other two services.
🔗 We're reet we're reaching nearly eighteen nineteen thousand people a year now
🔗 and that's growing so to see it grow to see it evolve to meet the people whose
🔗 lives are transformed by the work we do it's life affirming stuff.
🔗 And. I feel passion for isn't it. Making a difference. Yeah it really does.
🔗 Yeah yeah. How can we support you.
🔗 Well we this is this is supporting guy talk to your you know give me the chance to
🔗 talk about it. We've got. Guide dogs week coming up it's the beginning of October.
🔗 The ninth of October so if you can help us to encourage people to raise money for
🔗 the what we do and.
🔗 Just just just keep just keep connecting with us with where we're you.
🔗 We've got some amazing people not just the staff.
🔗 We've got about four hundred staff we've got nearly fourteen thousand volunteers.
🔗 Richard Leaman the man who runs our new rebase guide dogs talking with Andromeda by
🔗 his work in the work
🔗 that they hope to do in the future if you've ever seen a guide dog being trained
🔗 and you watch the dog learn via the bond between the guide dog over the whole guide
🔗 dog users
🔗 and the dog itself it's a truly magical thing you just wonder dogs know much more
🔗 than a week perhaps a single and I mean by the way back on Monday from ten o'clock.
🔗 He's a man with a boy got a
🔗 problem
🔗 making him the
🔗 mic
🔗 that he's
🔗 no
🔗 doubt.
🔗 In a way he will say
🔗 and say the
🔗 bottom
🔗 of these seven
🔗 place he is the main man.
🔗 The
🔗 way
🔗 to
🔗 the feds
🔗 to
🔗 me is the DOM
🔗 where a man
🔗 with Jeremy
🔗 we
🔗 knew
🔗 them
🔗 with.
🔗
🔗 Now
🔗 you know I love that song but there is five minutes
🔗 and thirty five seconds of it and sometimes you can have too much of a good thing.
🔗 I think Stevie Wonder.
🔗 I think you should have quit while you're ahead with three minutes and thirty.
🔗 But the it's only a personal view song was written as a tribute to Gordon Ramsay.
🔗 He's a man with a flag. He's Mr Know it all for B.B.C.
🔗 Radio Boucher and there's a Seahawk I want to I want to try
🔗 and boil your spirits on the Saturday morning.
🔗 But the Daily Express is not so concerned about it's kind of story saying here
🔗 that. Good that we're having a heat wave which was predicted by the paper
🔗 but staying cool in a heat wave can actually cost you a lot of money seven hundred
🔗 pounds powerfully according to a study.
🔗 Yesterday I did express says hot weather causes us to rush out
🔗 and buy lightweight clothing including shortstops
🔗 and shoes Well I have just bought a new T. Shirt that's true.
🔗 Just running an electric fan through the hottest days can put forty five pounds on
🔗 the electric bill. Oh God I've got one of those running at the moment.
🔗 I've got one of those flats that's on the top floor right in the heat rises
🔗 and you know what happens. Don't use the heat rises.
🔗 Days terribly hot on the top floor but down the downstairs bits A cool.
🔗 That's exactly what's happened in my book.
🔗 So that's why I've been running a fan
🔗 and this is going to cost me forty five pounds I'm going to be bankrupt probably by
🔗 the end of next week six twenty three B.B.C.
🔗 Radio by the city use it
🔗 up and where it's worn out already.
🔗 It
🔗 has eight
🔗 to
🔗 eight
🔗 A.M.
🔗 To six twenty seven Howard Hughes B.B.C.
🔗 Radio Bob Novak. Christina. To hear from you. Christina. She says.
🔗 Good to hear your voice looking forward to some good music while we do our best
🔗 Christina says I'm all for the any sleep or the festival of quilts.
🔗 So let us have one on display perhaps next year next year.
🔗 You've got to have ambition come on
🔗 that was Festival of quote sounds like light comedy on Radio four fags mags
🔗 and bags where the guy who runs the corner shop has the bowl of crisps.
🔗 Pretty much like the festival of quilts. But you must excuse me.
🔗 I've just got to go and turn on my electric razor here
🔗 but a bit of a shave security
🔗 at news headlines next we'll catch up with the Bradley Wiggins achievements in the
🔗 Olympics to bring it up to speed on the day's news is it good to be in it was easy
🔗 if the nose is they
🔗 say
🔗 this is you know used to do you know those days they
🔗 get
🔗 the way she is out of the
🔗 the street you know to the city now you
🔗 say
🔗 you
🔗 said
🔗 it says you know you you know you say.
🔗 Good
🔗 to see the
🔗 you know it has
🔗 two
🔗 minutes of musical perfection for the Beatles Paul
🔗 and for Liverpool who shopped around.
🔗 If you get a chance have a look on You Tube I think it's still there.
🔗 There was a program done years
🔗 and years ago by George Martin who of course was the Beatles' music Supreme are
🔗 called the music of Lennon and McCartney
🔗 and it featured his orchestra doing tunes like I feel fine in a sort of orchestral
🔗 way and it's really cool really good.
🔗 Plus a lot of people who did cover versions of Beatles songs like a guy called Dick
🔗 Rivers who was a big pop star in France completely on them in the U.K.
🔗 Dick Libertas and he does one of the songs
🔗 and also on the you will see Tolly black and white
🔗 and it's a beautifully atmospheric thing the music of Lennon McCartney You will see.
🔗 Peter Sellers member famous comedy actor Pink Panther man doing a hard day's night.
🔗 It has been a hard day's night
🔗 and I have been working like a dog into the Shakespearean style the music of Lennon
🔗 McCartney cannot talk highly enough about it on You Tube Now B.B.C.
🔗 Radio box with highlights he sixty one news headlines on this Saturday morning
🔗 thirteenth of August sobriety weakens has become Britain's most successful every
🔗 Olympian by winning gold in cycling's team pursuit in Rio.

🔗 And that is the way that the new shapes on this Saturday morning.
🔗 The thirteenth of August twenty sixth
🔗 and let's check out the weather now it's going to be a nice few days from what I
🔗 understand but let's confirm that with Emily Wood Good morning.
🔗 We've had a few clear spells to start with today as we go through the morning then
🔗 it will turn quite cloudy for a time this kind could be taken off for the old
🔗 sponsor of light rain and drizzle.

🔗 and it's time to the camp breaking up as in Brighton
🔗 and some sunny spells once again it was the end of the afternoon into this evening
🔗 and temperatures today still fairly warm reaching twenty three degrees in Brighton

🔗 It's Peter Gabriel's face surrounded by moving fruit. So I could say really.
🔗 It's all very bizarre.
🔗 Now I don't know what he noticed but after seventy here in cash.
🔗 I'm buying is also used by in fact the main part of it is another part of the
🔗 B.B.C.
🔗 Which employs some remarkably intelligent people doing amazingly interesting work
🔗 that requires them to speak many languages
🔗 and understand an awful lot of things which is cutting a long story extremely short
🔗 and sometimes you know we don't come into contact with them very much.
🔗 But sometimes we do
🔗 and some of them are very funny have great impish sense of humor.
🔗 So yesterday and I think I can tell the story.
🔗 I'm wanting to answer the call of nature as you do now in this building.
🔗 If you want to use a loo you have to sometimes walk a very very long way.
🔗 In fact sometimes you have to walk almost into Oxfordshire to be able to use a loo.

🔗 of him cyclists win gold in record time.
🔗 Wiggins lifts eighth medal to become our greatest limpy
🔗 and the most decorated Olympian I mean they were various radio and T.V.

🔗 I like and thank the INS find a peach hidden somewhere secreted in Barger
🔗 and look you know the patches of long thin County.
🔗 There's lots of places where it could be secreted so it's never easy now.
🔗 So you need to solve some coming week cryptic clues to get around the county from

🔗 Today is Super Saturday at the Olympics in Rio But last night it was definitively
🔗 fantastic Friday for Team G.B.
🔗 Three golds three silvers
🔗 and history made across the Olympic Park on Day seven so Bradley Wiggins won his
🔗 eighth Olympic medal and fifth gold in the men's team proceed alongside at Plan C.
🔗 Zero in do

🔗 and for me the two most under-rated start of a race with so tell you
🔗 that what they do

🔗 and then you saw it just reminds me of a young Geno can do anything in the sport
🔗 and nothing fazes him especially to pick finals at twenty one because she went
🔗 through the process it was one step at a time.
🔗 Nothing about the culture and that's hard
🔗 when your team mates are winning gold chain from your Briony page one silver in the
🔗 trampoline and Britain's first ever medal in
🔗 that event she said she was amazed at her success.
🔗 I can't believe like I can leave up on it like that.
🔗 I can't leave.
🔗 On the track the reigning Olympic champion Jessica Ennis he leads the have to have
🔗 them after the first day of competition great picture of her in mid.
🔗 Liked on the front page of The Times by the way her teammate Catarina Johnson
🔗 Thompson is fourth Jessica and they still said it had been a mixed day.
🔗 Then I don't that's not the kind of high fat food not the biggest

🔗 And a silver dressage team also won silver with Spencer Wilton Fiona big wood Carl
🔗 Hester
🔗 and Charlotte to revert to jumpin beaten into second by world champions Germany.
🔗 Sadly it wasn't to be in the skeet shooting for Bin Field's own Amber Hill who came
🔗 last in the semifinals yesterday
🔗 but windsurfer Nick Dempsey meanwhile is guaranteed a second successive a lympics
🔗 silver medal
🔗 and defending tennis champion Andy Murray reached the men's semifinals
🔗 but needed a final set tie break to scrape past American world number twenty two.
🔗 STEVE JOHNSON more from the Olympics of course it's seven thirty.
🔗 When we have for sports and Tim that was here
🔗 and you know I can only say to Amber
🔗 and everybody in bin field who followed her she did fantastically to even get there
🔗 and she's incredibly young and there will be many more days like this.
🔗 Coming soon with me. Howard Hughes saw no breakfast a B.B.C.
🔗 Radio March I will have a smartphone for Valerie where will we be going this week.
🔗 We're in the pantheon of locations
🔗 that we haven't been to before where we've beat zeroing in on today a little wait
🔗 and see in the age of the station with the
🔗 found out he began to show me
🔗 that he has is again it was a good thing the
🔗 it was a good place to come out.
🔗 It's the best

🔗 Take it now
🔗 please.
🔗 Take
🔗 me away.
🔗 Give me leave to
🔗 clean out the bad as
🔗 it
🔗 has
🔗 a
🔗 little more sounds like a lot of us down by the school yard.
🔗 I remember hearing that I was a little boy
🔗 when I came out on the stand to tell what it was about I have a better idea now
🔗 but only slightly It's a big day of low cost. A.B.C.
🔗 Radio Shack news is making a classic championship away game of the new season kicks
🔗 off at Molineux against the world.
🔗 I write this with who explains why the final of the
🔗 men's and women's coming in Rio has to make.
🔗 When we can realize the dream
🔗 and I know we can be in the cold in a position from one enjoying eighty Williams
🔗 Jim Callaghan crystal in the reading football
🔗 and still be rather angry to see the finished reading the
🔗 new one who knew only here on B.B.C.
🔗 Radio announcer seven twenty two.
🔗 How would you see it
🔗 and repeat in what is it now I'm just doing the math here never being very good at
🔗 that in what is it thirty eight minutes from now.
🔗 Well no so forty minutes thereabouts for another edition of peach quest
🔗 but not just any old edition of peach Quest this is a special I'm limping being the
🔗 vision of peach quest rather like those Marks and Spencers Lance.
🔗 This is not just any peach Quest. This is I'm a limping peach Quest.
🔗 And we've already defeated Sophie was off in the van right now going eastwards
🔗 towards Binfield which is just north of Bragg North so not very difficult to get to
🔗 used to live there. I think it was Banfield close.
🔗 If you living in Bonn feel close. Good morning to you.
🔗 I had a very happy more or less two years there
🔗 but that's where the good that's going to be our starting point will.
🔗 Let's go be our starting point for the Peace Corps today.
🔗 Much more importantly at seven twenty three.
🔗 Time now for another smartphone Safari one I'm smart
🔗 and on the community watch manager.
🔗 Cannot trust and today on down one of the community nature is a valley.
🔗 Close to what six lovely like brook running through the middle of the reserve on
🔗 down. It's a day with a broad brush.
🔗 And some work to improve the strain for wildlife. Such the streams affected by dam.
🔗 And it's meant
🔗 that the channel which would naturally be quite narrow fast flowing with an
🔗 autograph really substrate on the bottom has been changed is much wider sections of
🔗 the bank have been eroded away
🔗 and many of the fly is quite slow it's much wider than it should be and
🔗 that means a lot of sediment drops out in the slow flight deposits on the bottom
🔗 which is not ideal.
🔗 Certainly not good for the trout which live in the stretch
🔗 and a lot to spawn in the last gravel exceptions to the plan for the work today is
🔗 with the wood in some big bloated plexus which basically narrow the stream
🔗 narrow the channel.
🔗 It's like a bank extension really out into the light now in the streaming so the
🔗 fly speeds up and then hopefully
🔗 that will start shifting a little bit in the gravel the right.
🔗 So that's the plan for today.
🔗 So we've driven in a whole
🔗 lot of chestnut stakes to form the outside of the day
🔗 and the guys are now pushing down.
🔗 Big sections of brush material down in between the gaps over two rows of chestnut
🔗 spikes to form a sort of fairly impenetrable wall on the outside of the slope
🔗 collector which will push the flight out into the middle of the river
🔗 and then we're going to start back from a move. Lots of material.
🔗 We've got several helpers from the environment I'd say come down today
🔗 and they help me cut material and collect brush that's already been caught
🔗 and stored and
🔗 when then going to backfill into Davis like the shed collectors so
🔗 that material will eventually break down
🔗 and for me I bank Stenson to look at any sort of brick at this point the strings
🔗 probably about.
🔗 Before maybe five meters wide looks really shallow you see the beautiful clear
🔗 water which is probably only. In the day to this point.
🔗 So there's a really shallow river
🔗 but the guys are in there in the drawing to sink in enough to sort thought they say
🔗 there's a good two or three four in places still very pale color.
🔗 So dark ripples across the astronauts show you the structures part of the work
🔗 we're doing to it on that little bit more light in some areas.
🔗 Because that's how the industry brought the aquatic plants as well which is also
🔗 good shelter for the tryouts and food for some of the investor brought in there
🔗 and also I think the waterfalls which also live on this stretch.
🔗 I'm just looking at a double sunny structure here a large
🔗 section of water to get not coming out into the river.
🔗 And a couple of large water read out moves well
🔗 and I suspect the ground is going to focus.
🔗 Is a lot shining on the Watergate. Quite saw in the north sunny day like today.
🔗 Kingfish is around though we haven't seen him today.
🔗 I haven't seen a walk of all eyes about probably with the noise we can make
🔗 and I can probably decide to keep him so skep So we're all finished up for today.
🔗 We almost finished the first.
🔗 Shaped flow deflector on the fall back on and I might just be my imagination
🔗 but it looks like.
🔗 We're going to speed the flow already it does look like it's moving through this
🔗 section a little bit quicker now so let's hope so anyway I'm sure
🔗 but it's on we finish tomorrow it will be
🔗 and then a spacewalk process the tall I hopefully some of the sail will start to
🔗 move I mean like Meister exploration
🔗 or scrabbling sections for the brown trout to come and spawn in early in.
🔗 Bring thanks for joining the sound of
🔗 that what comes out of this is something on this lovely
🔗 that was just the thought I wanted to know which. A D.J.
🔗 Plough deflector that's my better job going for them.
🔗 Other problems with by the shape clothes like the complicated stuff
🔗 that was it's almost like dredging the River Mersey it's a big technical operation
🔗 thank you to Mark bribe field there for this week smartphones of our He's a
🔗 community wildlife manager from the box box an ox and Wildlife Trust A B back.
🔗 If you have a suggestion to make for any where you think would be just great for a

🔗 But through this afternoon becoming dry everywhere once again and
🔗 that cloud ten to the camp breaking up as a brighter
🔗 and some sunny spells once again
🔗 that was the end of the afternoon into this evening
🔗 and temperatures today still fairly warm reaching twenty three degrees in brought
🔗 no end in reading this afternoon.
🔗 Twenty two thousand is the maximum in Hungerford
🔗 and just light to moderate mainly westerly winds
🔗 but tonight sitting quite a quiet night they'll be some credit times
🔗 but some clear spells light winds and the temperatures now lower than thirteen ses.
🔗 Now for Sunday a dry day tomorrow it will be quite cloudy at times they can be some
🔗 brighter some sunnier intervals light winds and highs the twenty degrees.
🔗 Lots of sunshine to come there on Monday and tending very warm.

🔗 Let's see if we can make an alternative plan because it's always good
🔗 when in life it's always good.
🔗 I find it's always good to have a plan but now at seven thirty one
🔗 and forty five seconds.
🔗 We can do this
🔗 so
🔗 much going on with the Olympics
🔗 but very very busy yet another gold for Great Britain as just saying for the team

🔗 So great for him eight medals in total lympics in the last few years a great effort

🔗 How about yesterday on the rowing lake. They've done it.
🔗 It's a gold medal for the G.B.

🔗 that was the important one.
🔗 Here they come into the line Great Britain win gold in the men's for Australia in
🔗 silver and in the bronze medal position on the far side of the lake.
🔗 It's the Italians the agony immediately turning to ecstasy for the cheapie men for
🔗 that dinner stay continues.
🔗 It's a gold rush for Britain on the lake in Rio Addicks Grigory a double Olympic
🔗 gold medalist in the ballsy looks absolutely delighted and spent a same time.
🔗 Constantine to lose it riding around in some discomfort at the front of the day
🔗 after their hearts and souls into that long.
🔗 So today more middle opportunities to one coming in the men's eight
🔗 and ones coming in the women's eight this is just after three o'clock the softer
🔗 noon in a Rio and we'll have coverage of that of course here on B.B.C.
🔗 Radio talk show the men's eight full of confidence.
🔗 I've always liked racing as an adult.
🔗 Whereas now see with which our champions are not
🔗 and I come from some she can do well within your team you know then you can the
🔗 other thing is going quite easy to sort of be flippant about to go to space
🔗 when you're in such a high performance team we've going credible history of winning
🔗 the gold bar with the.
🔗 No it just kind of lay have that like you go really fight for
🔗 and I think despite all the illnesses who we've had collectively in the team.
🔗 I think we're still on a good pathway to achieve
🔗 that I chose is definitely the best tombstone in the men's side we've had in my
🔗 experience. It's definitely the most probably unified team father
🔗 and most of all themselves
🔗 and I want several still well it's kind of is a really good atmosphere of our set.
🔗 I think on how everyone she performed at the top level for several years we've
🔗 got.
🔗 You know Olympic gold medalists to the world champion gold medalist look to look
🔗 for I think we're trying to hone our skills and try
🔗 and come together as one one single it's making sure it's about yourself in the
🔗 right way to get the best that's just being hyped for the big cage
🔗 and also she lacks in top
🔗 locals
🔗 and holding a piece of so successful over the years.
🔗 It looks very strong
🔗 and see what's going to come so
🔗 the men's eight on the water the softening Andy Triggs haulage bidding to become a
🔗 triple Olympic gold medalist will know we have the option to win.
🔗 We will know we'll be confident enough to know that there's.
🔗 The race in this that could win a gold medal.
🔗 It'll be about
🔗 and the threat of not doing what we're capable of said will be the sort of kind of
🔗 burden on our shoulders but equally.
🔗 Will be the excitement of it when we do get it right.
🔗 Actually how special it's going to be where we've seen one alum pick medalist after
🔗 their faith effort. Catherine Granger successful earlier on this week.
🔗 What about Fran Horton same thing five Olympic appearances the softness she goes in
🔗 the women's eight. I entered a group that was up and running and had such a
🔗 that ethos
🔗 and I was just felt really privileged to come into it you know it's not something
🔗 that we've created this year at all.
🔗 There are so many girls that have made it what it is now.
🔗 So although it might seem that there's been a change.
🔗 I really cannot emphasize enough
🔗 that it's been what has been created over the last couple of years at least.
🔗 To sort of end up in where we are now in the way
🔗 that we can expect a thousand now all the Olympic rowing here on B.B.C.
🔗 Radio partially from one o'clock with Chris Hollins overtly
🔗 and now defending champions Great Britain one silver in the Olympic team dressage
🔗 as world champions Germany claimed gold the British cortex including spent so we'll
🔗 turn from reading or beaten into second by three point three three four points.
🔗 Charlotte doodles and part of that as well.
🔗 I love the trampoline ing last night on the telly.
🔗 Briony page became the first British woman to win an Olympic trampoline medal by
🔗 claiming silver in Rio page beaten to gold by north point four two five points as
🔗 Canada's rose and.
🔗 McLennan one can we have a trampoline ing every Friday night at peak time on B.B.C.
🔗 One please Great Britain's men's hockey team are out of the Olympics after they
🔗 drew one one with Spain in their final pool match the G.B.
🔗 Hockey team who are based at Bisham Abbey out the draw less than needing Belgium to
🔗 beat New Zealand with a black six one three one two and Great Britain's hopes.
🔗 On we go to football then the new Premier League season gets underway today with
🔗 reigning champions Leicester City awaiting newly promoted to Hull City as the
🔗 opening game at twelve thirty.
🔗 Hollo be led by caretaker manager Mike Phelan who took temporary charge after Steve
🔗 Bruce left in July.
🔗 While cloudy around the areas Leicester will need to adapt to life without Angola

🔗 Gary Lineker has described the midfielder as most unsung of Lester's big three

🔗 Elsewhere Bernie's return to the Premier League a game with a home tighen Swanzy
🔗 West Brom are away to Crystal Palace Everton host Spurs
🔗 and Stoke go to Middlesbrough Southampton are against Watford in a late kickoff Pep
🔗 Guardiola is expected to hand defend the Johnstone's his Manchester City debut as a

🔗 Wolverhampton Wanderers alongside gooding the full commentary of reading his game
🔗 at Molineux kicks off at three

🔗 INS out of two for the team so far and he reckons the best is still to come
🔗 but not everybody is yet as fit as maybe as they are in a stubborn enough Amber
🔗 but. Yeah so we think we've got a lot of confidence and players that we can do it.
🔗 Also in an away game against Wales or maybe.
🔗 Against in Newcastle who we have to do. Had the same kind of job because.
🔗 It would be strange if you play against Wales
🔗 and you can hit the ball only along and.
🔗 You just lean back
🔗 and that's not what we want we want to do the same like we did the last two games
🔗 as assistant manager at Reading
🔗 and there's older ink the former Reading strike a Glenn Murray scored the first two
🔗 goals of his second spell at Brighton
🔗 and Hove Albion as they beat Nottingham Forest three now to claim a first league
🔗 win of the season.
🔗 And beheld Arsenal mentioned Amber Heller on the eighteen year old skeet shooter

🔗 over England on day two of the final Test match at The Oval the visitors
🔗 or resume four hundred thirty for six units can one hundred one.
🔗 South has twelve runs ahead of England finally we've got racing at Newbury today
🔗 eighty will be presenting the show from one o'clock at Newbury racecourse
🔗 and Frankie Dettori has secured is three thousand British winner at Newmarket the
🔗 jockey achieved a landmark on predilection trained by John Goldston
🔗 and I guessed M M It's a busy day for you especially during the Olympics with the
🔗 Premiership starting but Amber Hill on behalf of her
🔗 and the people have been fielding gotta say
🔗 that even getting there was a massive achievement.
🔗 Well yes I mean ultimately a little bit disappointing perhaps to finish out the
🔗 medals but it's such a slender margins.
🔗 If levels
🔗 and I mean you know especially in something like shooting if you're only very solid
🔗 the ELSE IS ALL GAME OVER.
🔗 It is a fraction of a second and somebody pointed out to me.
🔗 Depressingly nothing was peachy who said it yesterday
🔗 that I lived in Britain feel right at the start.
🔗 Yeah well you might say this year but you may have also he was born here.
🔗 So
🔗 that makes me now to thank you for the tenth of a sports to be here because he really
🔗 about your full coverage of course of the start of the Premiership season
🔗 and the Olympics. B.B.C. Radio Boucher.
🔗 This morning from The Judy Show right now.
🔗 You're listening to what you B.B.C.
🔗 Radio talk show comics new technology news with families.
🔗 I
🔗 don't
🔗 believe
🔗 I
🔗 I
🔗 live in
🔗 the
🔗 Beach Boys. I can hear music.
🔗 Get
🔗 that dealt with you know just go to the doctor jump from Wargrave thank you very much
🔗 for your e-mail. Now John periodically every couple months gets in touch
🔗 and he's got the launch photograph that I had taken when B.B.C..
🔗 Radio boxes started when I was the first voice on air the B.B.C.
🔗 Took my portrait picture
🔗 and I look slightly different because twenty odd years ago.
🔗 But John always attaches this picture to his emails
🔗 and there's like a look of slight look of Richard play them in there.
🔗 I think back in the day
🔗 but I was wearing a jacket in the time I gave up those years ago seven forty three.
🔗 Now we are B.B.C. Radio box and here is confirmation B.B.C.
🔗 Radio
🔗 but actually a choir of angels once again heralding
🔗 the appearance of the man who has the answer to all questions.
🔗 Well certainly technological fancy talk up the old gadget detective actually the
🔗 very young gadget Detective how are you
🔗 and I being replaced something I should know meet the new gadget detective better
🔗 than the old gadget detective I say which is a little bit of a take on a song lyric
🔗 lots to talk about as ever. This week.
🔗 Let's start with Facebook because this made the news during the week.
🔗 A lot of people get a bit naff off seeing Facebook's ads constantly appearing
🔗 but of course it's a double edged sword. Isn't it because ads fund the website.
🔗 Facebook's fired a warning shot an ad blocking software the stuff
🔗 that you can download and cut the ads by making changes
🔗 that will force you to see them. Yeah.
🔗 So this is part of an arms race affair effectively between those Web sites
🔗 that would lie upon advertisement for their existence in many cases
🔗 and people who don't want to see ads all the time and. It's difficult.
🔗 I mean this is the latest step from Facebook other websites have changed their Web
🔗 sites to detect ad blocking software and tell you either to switch off
🔗 or to sing a hook and I've seen some quite statements you know when
🔗 when using a whip. Where bad blocking myself for test purposes at least.
🔗 So it's a tricky one.
🔗 So Facebook is saying you have to see ads
🔗 but we're going to give you more control over the type of ads
🔗 that you see in the types of advertisers you will see so they're trying to balance
🔗 the the situation
🔗 but at the same time they're forcing people with Ad Blocker still to see it's.
🔗 I think the problem is this ads on the Internet have gone crazy they they
🔗 are often very very intrusive and they're allowed to take over your whole screen
🔗 and often it's hard to shut them down
🔗 or you have to wait for a certain period of time before you can do so
🔗 and you know there are rules for advertising on on television
🔗 and radio for example
🔗 and advertisers have to follow those rules whereas on the Internet it's Tiger
🔗 country so really what you need some sort of regulation of those advertisement The
🔗 other problem is as Versed
🔗 and so often used as what's called an attack vector for malware that's to say
🔗 that ads can be used as a way of getting malware onto your system and again
🔗 that needs to be dealt with as well because it's one thing saying you should watch
🔗 ads it's another thing saying you should make machine vulnerable.
🔗 So there's a long way to go on this. It's an interesting move from Facebook.
🔗 I hope they spend some of their huge resources on trying to make those adverse
🔗 means less intrusive and safer and the big question
🔗 that we have not time to explore is who is speaking up for the consumer that's you
🔗 and me here you know who puts our point of view to them.
🔗 There are very many people doing that.
🔗 So I think that's what they really feel
🔗 that we're voting with our feet because two hundred million people using Outlook
🔗 isn't that speaking so well they get hearing the gadget of the week.
🔗 Now I bought recently a kit sound why fi speaker for my phone
🔗 and I found it was very good so interesting to see
🔗 that they've come up with something new.
🔗 Yet no they've been quite innovative with some of the product support out recently
🔗 so this is something called the kit sound link so kit sound is a brand
🔗 and link is the name of the for.
🔗 And it's a little box
🔗 that you can attach to almost any speaker in your home any speak of
🔗 that has either a line import or an optical audio input
🔗 or even you know an import on your old hi fi we've got a spare import your old you
🔗 know.
🔗 Hi Fi start you can convert it into a wireless why five she used to be called auxiliary
🔗 I think you find. Yeah yeah auxiliary input yes quite right.
🔗 Don't use a phone no input.
🔗 So this you can go get one of these boxes for every one of the speakers in each
🔗 room. If you want you can wire
🔗 or make wirelessly connected your whole house worth of old speakers.
🔗 This is important because most of the money
🔗 that goes into a smart speaker is not into the smart it's into the speaker
🔗 particular if it's of a good quality
🔗 that a lot of us have speakers literally around the house.
🔗 There are some speakers they do what they were doing in the seventy's
🔗 or the eighty's or the ninety's but they're still going strong.
🔗 We don't necessarily want to get rid of them
🔗 but this upgrade some so you attach one of these little boxes to either the line
🔗 input or the optical input on that on that speaker
🔗 or amplifier you then download an app either for I O. S.
🔗 or Android Apple Android devices.
🔗 Then you can stream wirelessly via wife in your home to a
🔗 multitude of services including Spotify connect Napster Rhapsody tune in radio.
🔗 You can also use it with your P.C.
🔗 or Network attached storage so your whole music collection
🔗 that might be stored on one of those two devices can also be streamed Also if a
🔗 friend comes round to your home they can also use their smartphone to add their own
🔗 tracks to the play this as well.
🔗 So it's quite interesting for sort of party set up.
🔗 It's all getting other hand is
🔗 and I want to we get the time to use all these things.
🔗 Well the nice thing about this is you don't have a choice on how you can use it
🔗 either. You can have the same song playing in every speaker around the house
🔗 but synchronized and that's. Actually a big deal.
🔗 Some of them don't synchronize very well so you can go around the house
🔗 and same thing or you can stream different music into different rooms.
🔗 So essentially very similar functionality to the sound of speakers
🔗 but so not speakers you know you version need a lot of money for I was going to say
🔗 mortgage is not quite that bad
🔗 but it's a very expensive ticket out house was so not so nice with the first to do
🔗 this but this does much the same thing
🔗 but it's much cheaper list price on each of these link boxes is sixty pounds best
🔗 price. I've seen from a well known online retailer a sixty two pounds ninety one
🔗 and as well as as I researched it and
🔗 that that's actually cheaper I mean there's not nothing so money
🔗 but it's not in the high hundreds as it would be if you were buying
🔗 and I'm sure other kinds will be available.
🔗 We have to say that now is a serious matter as we have two minutes to do this
🔗 but it's a big story and was all over the national news.
🔗 But for five days back Android bug fear. Now this is something to do with a chip.
🔗 I think
🔗 that affects potentially They told us nine hundred million Android phones worldwide.
🔗 Yeah. So there's a manufacturer called Qualcomm Qualcomm with a Q.
🔗 And they produce the chipsets that go in.
🔗 Into almost a billion Android phones currently nine hundred million Android phones
🔗 and those chipsets are usually to do with you know the communications of the phone
🔗 and what they found what researchers have found is this bugs in the software
🔗 that runs on those particular chipsets is not.
🔗 In the Android code provided by Google
🔗 but it shipped with the Android code it's part of Android by the time it gets
🔗 shipped in installed on your phone
🔗 and those there are for security vulnerabilities in there any one of which could be
🔗 used by an app to take control of your Android device.
🔗 Perhaps without you knowing it so that they could steal data from you.
🔗 So that they could take your.
🔗 Or your credit card information your banking from ation maybe they could to
🔗 scramble all your files
🔗 and ransom them back to there's any number of things could be done so.
🔗 It's a problem because of the number two reasons.
🔗 A number of phones and not only phones
🔗 but also tablets are potentially affected by this
🔗 but also because the way the Android works is very hard to roll out a patch across
🔗 the whole user base it's OK So as I seconds ticked down is the answer to this
🔗 antivirus on your phone.
🔗 I've just installed AMC on one phone and Norton on another is
🔗 that now
🔗 when I
🔗 do apologize we lost that and I'll tell you exactly why we lost that.
🔗 I actually dropped something on a keyboard which has never happened to me on radio.
🔗 So he just said to me something that I needed to be reminded about
🔗 and something fell on the keyboard and it actually hit the button
🔗 that played the song
🔗 that I was hoping to play right at the end of the show which didn't exactly mess it
🔗 all up for me but we lost the end of family which we pre-record
🔗 and I do apologize about that.
🔗 That is a chance in a million but of course it can only happen to you.
🔗 It is the curse of B.B.C.
🔗 Radio Barger I think you'll find literally something that I had on the desk here.
🔗 I just lent forward.
🔗 It dropped like a stone and hit the precise button but stopped faves a.
🔗 And started the next song that is the kind of thing
🔗 that I think our entertainment correspondent Jenny Priestley.
🔗 Can probably concur could only happen to me
🔗 but we were talking by the way at the end with Feds the about a security
🔗 vulnerability with Android phones nine hundred million affected but
🔗 that is the kind of thing that wasn't my fault
🔗 and could only happen in a random situation like the.
🔗 Django Jenny Priestley on entertainment shave me please. How are you this morning.
🔗 Oh are you there. Jenny Jenny are you there testing. One two three.
🔗 Jenny Priestley now we've got no Jenny. Oh what a shame and he my producer.
🔗 Ishi where you thought she would be you can tell me just wave to me really
🔗 and all we really need. Is she where you think she will be. No. OK well no worries.
🔗 We're going to come to Jenny I think in just a little while with entertainment news
🔗 now a little earlier we were playing a little interview with have a small
🔗 but Phil Kennedy did yesterday on his show and I said
🔗 that there were some great songs around
🔗 when she had her rent range of hits around the back end of the ninety's
🔗 and I said one you don't hear is this one.
🔗 Yes we did have a little preview of it used to call
🔗 the brand you happy for you to give us a B.B.C.

🔗 you have easy while the universe B.B.C.

🔗 and then the last thing start to go very wrong

🔗 Watching the Olympics maybe you had other priorities in your life
🔗 but whatever you're doing at the moment now
🔗 and however this week has been I would love to hear from you here who will make
🔗 contact with us here at B.B.C. Radio Boucher there's a very good way to do it.

🔗 He is something I'll think of something of this morning. Absolutely nothing.
🔗 The world is on holiday.

🔗 Maybe is listening to my show simply read MAYCOCK over there glass half empty

🔗 You've got to have ambition come on
🔗 that was Festival of quote sounds like light comedy on Radio four fags mags
🔗 and bags where the guy who runs the corner shop has the bowl of crisps.
🔗 Pretty much like the festival of quilts. But you must excuse me.
🔗 I've just got to go and turn on my electric razor here
🔗 but a bit of a shave security
🔗 at news headlines next we'll catch up with the Bradley Wiggins achievements in the

🔗 and years ago by George Martin who of course was the Beatles' music Supreme are
🔗 called the music of Lennon and McCartney

🔗 Association says charging companies for every day they close the lane on key routes
🔗 can speed up road works and reduce congestion.
🔗 Peter Fleming is the deputy chairman of the L G A I think many of us hope we need
🔗 to let the companies begin up the road
🔗 and then another utility company coming along a week after digging up the same bit
🔗 of the road lane
🔗 when two screens would allow us to better coordinate this allowing us to.
🔗 And move the works on much quicker
🔗 and tens of thousands of people going back to the 1940's in new break today

🔗 days and don't know how the peach Quest works.
🔗 Personally I've forgotten and I do it every week. The B.B.C. Radio March listeners.
🔗 Thank you. By the way. Andrew after whom the show is named.
🔗 I've got to help Sophie who's here.
🔗 I like and thank the INS find a peach hidden somewhere secreted in Barger
🔗 and look you know the patches of long thin County.
🔗 There's lots of places where it could be secreted so it's never easy now.
🔗 So you need to solve some coming week cryptic clues to get around the county from
🔗 place to place until eventually the final clue sends Sophie who's here like it
🔗 or not seems to be to the peak your ultimate destination
🔗 but first I need to send you off to your location in the Trotters independent
🔗 traders' than OK. Oh. Either way you go in the you'll love it.
🔗 It's nice and it's not that difficult to get to I can make it here.
🔗 So when I start the B.B.C. Radio about analog clock now as we start this process

🔗 R. One of my favorite places where OK I will speak.
🔗 Sophie thanks but I have a good one.
🔗 SOPHIE of the playing field place where I lived for eighteen months of my life
🔗 and loved it really feels close.
🔗 I saw it recently think it was Banfield close
🔗 and in free speech Quest launching at eight o'clock this morning B.B.C.
🔗 Radio Bachus Aufidius Andrew here is your here

🔗 has.
🔗 Groove Jack if they say love. I will be MIA seven fifteen B.B.C.
🔗 Radio box
🔗 and repeats here in forty five minutes from now with Peter Quest Sophia's on why
🔗 not.
🔗 Zero in do
🔗 and Steven Berkoff in the I
🔗 was the third I saw
🔗 the
🔗 I
🔗 write
🔗 the book while and after
🔗 that sobriety begins paid tribute to his colleagues always said that
🔗 and for me the two most under-rated start of a race with so tell you
🔗 that what they do
🔗 and they don't get the credit for it because they're not a big rock star
🔗 find to myself have been trying to
🔗 get an unlikely have Thanks Jessica.
🔗 that we can live it has been able to get the bonus system
🔗 and how to share with the way around the world.
🔗 If you have a suggestion to make for any where you think would be just great for a
🔗 smartphone Safari do email me how a dog. He's a B B C dot co dot U.K.
🔗 and We'll get straight on at seven twenty eight.
🔗 Let's check boxes weather for this weekend and into next week with Emily Wood.
🔗 Good morning.
🔗 We've had a few clear spells to start with today as we go through the morning
🔗 though it will turn quite cloudy for a time this kind could be taken off for the
🔗 old sponsor of light rain and drizzle.
🔗 There's a full ten day forecast at our Web site B.B.C. Don't cut it. U.K.
🔗 For size buckshot Emily thank you for
🔗 that summertime of the living is easy seven twenty nine
🔗 first full check of the morning
🔗 and we say good morning to Paula Brett. Good morning.
🔗 You having a look at the A for London Road this morning in flower you've got
🔗 temperature AFAIK lights up three.
🔗 That's at the junction of a distant Park Road he three two nine zero westbound in
🔗 when is the entry slip road from mortal road remains closed to the winner's
🔗 triangle at the moment you how do you have a diversion in place a via the A three
🔗 to nine taking you into reading all the lane in the winners Now this does remain
🔗 close friends like Tuesday work between Redding road and the Cal border close
🔗 that should reopen tomorrow all being well down to a temp relights
🔗 or up between Western Road
🔗 and working a road train wise everything's running time through back here at the
🔗 moment.
🔗 If you spot anything else call three four five nine three double one three double
🔗 three travel you trust from B.B.C.
🔗 Radio about Shaq's polar axis travel cameras online B.B.C.
🔗 Slashdot
🔗 seven thirty.
🔗 Precisely the B.B.C.
🔗 News headlines now has an appeal to promptly Wigan's has become Britain's most
🔗 decorated Olympian by winning a gold medal at the Rio Games team G.B.
🔗 Beat Australia in the team to suit fine playing breaking the world record suddenly
🔗 been fields on the Hill now really missed out on the medal in the skeet shooting
🔗 the eighteen year old made it to the semi final in Rio.
🔗 The government says to carry on funding for farmers research
🔗 and other projects currently paid for by the E.U.
🔗 The received support after Briggs it's it's been approved before this year's autumn
🔗 statements until twenty twenty.
🔗 Councils in England
🔗 and Wales are calling for the power to charge utility firms for digging up roads
🔗 the Local Government Association says it will speed up Broad works
🔗 and reduce congestion
🔗 and tens of thousands of people will take a step back in time a new breed today
🔗 vintage costumes and cars are on display at the Rattray festival B.B.C.
🔗 Radio banksias so you can you will be broadcasting live from the show ground light.
🔗 Thank you for an agrarian hope you've forgiven me now for for singing with you
🔗 enjoyed it when we were we might actually state recover that I'm better.
🔗 He's really the main party yes.
🔗 Now we are hoping to have him there with us very soon to do sports.
🔗 pursuit last night surprised the weekend is fifth gold medal.
🔗 So great for him eight medals in total lympics in the last few years a great effort
🔗 from the Wiggins and the men's team pursuit in the cycling.
🔗 How about yesterday on the rowing lake. They've done it.
🔗 It's a gold medal for the G.B.
🔗 Women's patent Glover and I have a standing
🔗 but you can use Elance by half a length he said dames in bronze.
🔗 So they keep
🔗 that international unbeaten record intact thirty eight races on the bounce but
🔗 that was the important one.
🔗 counts who's moved to Chelsea.
🔗 Gary Lineker has described the midfielder as most unsung of Lester's big three
🔗 players.
🔗 Guardiola is expected to hand defend the Johnstone's his Manchester City debut as a
🔗 host Sunderland the as he had will be concentrating on the championship I'm up at
🔗 Wolverhampton Wanderers alongside gooding the full commentary of reading his game
🔗 at Molineux kicks off at three
🔗 and his older rank is hoping the team can continue their good early season form to
🔗 INS out of two for the team so far and he reckons the best is still to come
🔗 but not everybody is yet as fit as maybe as they are in a stubborn enough Amber
🔗 finished sixth
🔗 and out of the medals in the women's skeet in the cricket Pakistan opened up a lead
🔗 Radio talk show us the news you need to come
🔗 to
🔗 me
🔗 about
🔗 the issue being my
🔗 boss
🔗 and she
🔗 has to
🔗 give
🔗 me youth.
🔗 When
🔗 you have easy while the universe B.B.C.
🔗 Radio back just slightly truncated Jenny priestly entertainment Jenny I'm sorry
🔗 about that we're having some technical issues less money but we're fine
🔗 and how are you. I'm getting better.
🔗 How did that totally I was shocked that well know
🔗 that this is going to be a tonic for you. They call it Dr Radio.
🔗 So let's crack on really quickly
🔗 and you hear a film starring somebody from Downton Abbey.
🔗 Yes Robert James Carlia of course Thomas is heading into the Scandinavian wound
🔗 wild for his next project.
🔗 He's appearing alongside right follow on from Charleston in her movie The ritual
🔗 The story follows four old college friends who head off into the wild in order to
🔗 get away from it all but they take a shortcut
🔗 and then the last thing start to go very wrong
🔗 but if you could use for Andy Serkis.
🔗 Writing station I also have to wait and see what it sounds
🔗 but I've been wanting to see what he was going to do post Downton and now we know.
🔗 Andy Serkis Lord Of The Rings.
🔗 Sheryl Crow love Sheryl Crow you to change will do you good.
🔗 Yeah great song that is massively busy right now.
